Ecohab Consultancy specialises in botanical surveys and habitat restoration combining both ecological and horticultural expertise. 

Ecohab core consultants Liz Powell and Hannah Brett are based in Oxfordshire but work throughout the south of England and the Midlands. Ecohab works directly with other experienced freelance consultants to offer specialist professional services in all areas of ecological consultancy. 

With extensive ‘hands on’ habitat creation experience we can design and install exemplary terrestrial and aquatic habitat enhancement schemes whether for a protected species mitigation scheme, BREEAM credits, conservation or landscaping purposes.

We offer sustainable solutions and concise ecological advice to help guide clients through nature conservation legislative requirements to achieve excellent standards in ecological protection and enhancement.

Liz

Liz Powell

Liz Powell has over 10 years experience as a professional ecologist and is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).  This includes over seven years experience in ecological consultancy undertaking habitat surveys, ecological impact assessment and protected species surveys.  She holds a dormouse and great crested newt survey licence and has undertaken surveys for Schedule 8 plants requiring licencing.

Liz has undertaken extensive habitat surveys (including NVC and Phase 1) of Local Wildlife Sites and SSSIs for condition assessments in addition to impact assessments for large infrastructure projects including HS2 and has designed and implemented various habitat creation and restoration schemes including green roof, wetland and wildflower meadow creation.

Hannah Brett

Hannah Brett is a Chartered Biologist (CBiol) and botanist trained at the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens.  Hannah has experience of communicating science and ecology to all ages and leads forest school sessions.  She has extensive experience of habitat mapping and NVC surveys for native broad-leaved woodland in Scotland, and has more recently started ecological consultancy work undertaking initial ecological assessments, phase 1 surveys and protected species surveys.

Overseas Work

Liz and Hannah have both worked overseas undertaking a number of conservation projects in Africa, The Middle East, South-east Asia, South America and India.  

 

Ecohab Consultancy has Professional Indemnity and Employer’s Public and Product Liability Insurance. Its  consultants are CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) certified and have extensive experience of working on construction sites.
